Ball Mounts
Theball mount is placed inside the opening of the receiver hitch which is mounted to the vehicle. Make sure a hitch pin and clip is properly securing the ball mount to the receiver hitch before you began towing. Ball mounts are grouped into three styles.
Choosing the proper ball mount just like choosing almost any other towing accessory. Safety is the most important thing to keep in mind.
When looking at ball mounts, it is important that you buy the correct class of ball mount. The ball mount needs to match the class of hitch you have and the diameter of the ball mount shank needs to be the same as the hole in your ball mount. Some important things to remember...
When it comes to towing, one of the most important things to remember is this: Your tow vehicle, receiver hitch, ball mount (also called the drawbar on class 1 & 2 hitches) and hitch ball all have maximum weight limits they can safely tow. You cannot safely tow more than the lowest rated weight capacity of any of these individual parts
Hitch class refers to the weight capacity a towing component can handle. There are basically 5 hitch classes. You can read about them in our Trailer Hitches page.

C. The difference from both measurements will determine the size of drop or rise you need.
